If I had been born a Spartan then I wouldn’t have to worry about the bankruptcy of coal.
I could just poke people with sticks and kick them into pits. It seems like a simpler time. I mean, everyone got on well and no one was angered over the state of the economy or coal. Gerard Butler yelled at people with his duck lips…but only out of love, you see. Only out of love. The pit of no return was just like In School Suspension. That’s all. They had a Spartan teacher inside making people write lines and attempting to teach them proper social etiquette.
I admit that I’m more or less just picking on 300 but who cares? It’s funny trying to picture the civility of the Spartan empire. It makes me chuckle to think of Gerard Butler giving a speech that details his tough but fair plan for Spartan society. I sort of wish King Leonidas was running for President. Well, Gerard Butler as King Leonidas. The duck lips add a sort of credibility and trustworthiness to his belligerent rants.
I digress. It seems as though the screaming in 300 was more truthful than the doublespeak we encounter today. I’ve heard that one will catch more bees with honey (or bears if you are not careful) but this is a bit much. I worry for the state of the economy and its fate will be decided tomorrow. However, so will the fate of those myriad families trying to survive on a coal miner’s wages. Barack has stated his intention to bankrupt the industry. The sad thing is that most coal mining towns are nestled securely in Squalor’s arms and to lose that income would be nothing short of destructive.
It saddens me. I’m reneging on my claim to not blog on the political side. It shows a blatant disrespect for the poverty of many and a lack of concern that they might experience something far worse. At this point, entire towns and communities are Joe the Plumber.
I wonder what Gerard Butler as King Leonidas would say about coal mining? Possibly something screamy, incoherent, and occasionally witty. Like: Coal Miners, tonight we mine for Sparta or Then we shall mine in your face, Obama!
Yeah, I’ve got nothing. Sorry.
Currently Spinning: Never an Easy Way - Morcheeba. It’s slightly fitting. In a way. God bless!
